MY SHORT AND SWEET INTRODUCTION đź’–

WELCOME EVERYONE!
Thank you so much for checking out my website! I hope you find it useful and inspiring.
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share the story behind this website.
My name is Katey Furze. I was born in Wales, UK, and grew up in Cairns, Australia. Bowling has been a huge part of my life since I was around 4 or 5 years old. With my mum and both of my brothers also being bowlers, we spent most nights and weekends at the bowling alley—it became our second home.
I've always been a competitive person (having two older brothers definitely played a role in that!). Luckily, Australia has a strong bowling community through Tenpin Bowling Australia (TBA). My mum poured so much time and energy into supporting us and the bowling community, helping us chase our dreams and become the best versions of ourselves. Having someone believe in you is one of the most powerful and motivating feelings in the world.
Every tournament, every opportunity—I took it. I was fortunate to represent my country seven times across junior, youth, and adult levels, winning two international medals and even bowling a 300 in a team event. I love this sport! In May 2015, I was honored to be contacted by the University of Central Missouri and offered a scholarship to bowl for their women’s collegiate team. What a dream! What a opportunity!
For those who don’t know, Australia doesn’t have high school or college sports in the same way America does—nothing could have prepared me for the experience. And i mean NOTHING! The people, the environment, the support, the tough days, and the incredible ones made every sacrifice worthwhile.
After graduating, I found myself in the U.S. without family and only a small circle of friends, wondering what my next step in bowling would be. Then COVID happened, forcing me to take a long break. Eventually, I met new people and started bowling league in Kansas City, and by 2023, I was competing again. However, coming out of college, I struggled to find quality women’s scratch tournaments or any tournaments for that matter that were local or affordable to people just trying to get their feet wet. I felt defeated. Now, with a bigger network, I’ve discovered so much more than I knew when I was fresh out of college at 25.
That’s why I created this website—to be a resource for everyone: college bowlers, international players, local competitors, and anyone who simply loves the game. I want to build a community where we lift women up, support each other, and grow the sport together.
I’d love for you to join me on this journey!
